Aaron Rodgers’ is set to gain his $6.8 million roster bonus and the contract is not going to restructure

So, it’s been quite a talk for few days regarding ‘ contract with the Green Bay Packers. 

As if in halt, the Packers didn’t restructure Rodger’s contract for the year; however, He is it set to earn $6.8 million as the signing bonus.

Indeed, restructuring Rodger’s contract promised the Packers for as much as $15.2 million cap space for the year. 

Additionally, with the new league season’s start, the Packers have had a $182.5 million salary-cap figure.

Rodger’s contact details 

On August 29, 2018, first signed a four-year, $134 million contract extension with the Green Bay Packers.

Besides, the deal boasted $98.2 million in guarantees while covering a $57.5M signing bonus. 

Apparently, it had the guaranteed amount in the first two years of roster bonuses, and Rodgers gained $78.7 million guaranteed at signing.

Furthermore, it included $4 million incentives that came with playtime, performance, and team success.

As per Over The Cap, Rodgers had the increment in his salary-cap figure; $337,500 in 2018 and $5.4 million in 2019.

However, according to the ESPN, Rodgers’ deal was restructured in 2019, making the 2026’s $14.26 million roster bonus as 2019’s signing bonus.

Therewith, his salary cap in 2026 decreased by $11.408 million.

2026 expectations

As we all know, ‘ contract with the Packers will go till the 2026 season. 

Aaron had a cap hit this season of $37.2 million as far as the news, with a $14.7 million base salaries and a $6.8 million roster bonus.

Indeed, it created a big moment for the Packers to use his contract as per their wish to free the cap space.

Simply restructuring Aaron’s contract would save as much as $15.2 million in the cap space.

Also, Rodgers had the highest cap hit in the NFL (National Football League).

Additionally, the contract restructured would have given them a top free agent such as defensive tackle, offensive tackle, or cornerback.

Apparently, the Packers had two important issues to handle this season. Of course, ‘ contract restructuring and ‘ contract extension.

So, why might the contract not have been restructured?

Well, they did have a top hat, the immediate cap space the team would create. However, studying Rodegers’ cap hit, it would obviously blow up in the coming years. 

In simple words, the restructured deal would indeed bring an extreme height in the team, but it would be short-lived. The current cap hit would hit around $39.8 million in the upcoming years. 

To elaborate, the Packers would have to manage another massive cap hit for Rodgers in the other years.

In the end, the Packers would lose the flexibility over Rodgers concerning his trade and shift.

Therefore, it reduces the challenges for the team. So, does that mean Rodgers or the Packers don’t have any plans to stay together for the years? Is there something brewing in the pot? 

Might! Might not! For now, it just provides Rodgers with the $6.8 million signing bonus for the year.

As a matter of fact, Aaron Rodgers’ and the Green Bay Packer’s story has been as old as a tale. As far as Aaron has started his career, he has only devoted his carer to the Packers’ sole team.

Apparently, he first started his NFL career as the 24th overall pick in the first round.

However, he didn’t start right away with the Packers; in fact, he was the backup for Brett Favre during his first three years.

Following it, Rodgers has bagged and claimed many honors and achievements for the team and himself.

To date, Rodgers has led the NFL five times in touchdown-to-interception ratio (2011, 2012, 2014, 2018 & 2026).

Not to mention, he led five times in the lowest passing interception percentage and three times in passer rating.

Moreover, he is holding the third position in the NFL’s all-time regular-season career passer rating list.
