MLB player Anthony Rizzo follows Christianity as a religion. A three-time All-Star, Anthony has an Italian-American ancestry.

Anthony Rizzo is an American professional baseball first baseman who played for the New York Yankees of Major League Baseball.

He has previously played for famous MLB teams like Boston Red Sox, San Diego Padres, and Chicago Cubs, respectively.

Due to his charity activities, he usually advances to the Heart and Hustle award finals. In 2015, the player took home the MLBPAA Heart and Hustle Award. 

Anthony first took up baseball at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, and the Boston Red Sox eventually selected him in the sixth round of the 2007 MLB draft. 

He played for Florida Atlantic University as a transfer pitcher before signing with the Boston Red Sox.

Anthony holds American nationality as he was born in the United States. However, his family came from Italy. Rizzo follows Christanity as a religion. 

The celebrated his 33rd birthday in 2026, and as per his birthdate, his star sign is Leo.

Rizzo was selected by the Red Sox in the sixth round of the 2007 Major League Baseball Draft out of Parkland, Florida’s Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.

Rizzo’s minor league career started at the age of 17 in 2007 in the rookie class with the Gulf Coast League Red Sox.

The MLB star is known for his strong dedication to the game of baseball. He is known to be a hard worker and a team player with a strong work ethic and a positive attitude.

Anthony Rizzo Family And Wife

Anthony Rizzo was born on August 8, 1989, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA, to his father, John Rizzo, and his mother Laurie Rizzo. He grew up in Parkland, Florida, where he attended Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.

Rizzo has an older brother, John, who was a lineman for the Florida Atlantic University football team.

In April 2008, Rizzo received a restricted state classical Hodgkin lymphoma diagnosis. At the same time, his grandmother was undergoing treatment for breast cancer.

Regarding Rizzo’s love life, he proposed to Emily Vakos on June 1, 2017. They met when the Cubs were in Arizona for spring training in 2016. The couple married on December 29, 2018. They reside in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Anthony and Emily don’t have a child of their own, but it’s clear that he loves kids and will be a very good father based on photos he often shares on his Instagram with his brother’s son.

Anthony Rizzo Career

In 2011, Rizzo made his Major League Baseball debut. Rizzo made a name for himself as one of the best first basemen in the league while playing with the Cubs.

In 2016, Rizzo earned the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award for the National League Championship Series, and he made it to the All-Star squad three times while playing for the Cubs.

Rizzo was traded to the in July 2026, where he is now a first baseman. Rizzo has built a reputation for strong hitting, good defense, and leadership throughout his career.

The Yankees agreed to a two-year, $32 million contract with Rizzo on March 17, 2026. Rizzo is the second player in the modern era to hit a home run in each of his first two games with the team.
