Ice Hockey player Derek Stepan rose from obscurity to prominence. Thanks to the assistance of Derek Stepan sister and his family.

is a professional ice hockey center from the United States. He is currently under contract with the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes.

Derek has played for famous NHL teams like New York Rangers, Arizona Coyotes, and Ottawa Senators.

The New York Rangers drafted him in the second round, 51st overall, in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.

After being drafted, Stepan entered the University of Wisconsin, where he played for the Badgers of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA).

He signed his first professional contract with the Rangers on July 1, 2010, foregoing his junior and senior years at Wisconsin.

On October 9, 2010, he became the first player in Rangers history and the fourth in history to score a hat trick in a single game.

Derek has a younger sister named Josie Stepan. He has a great relationship with her. He treats her like gold and refers to her as a special girl. 

Stepan and Josie grew up in a hockey environment, as their dad was obsessed with hockey.

We can see many pictures of Stephan with his younger sister in the ice hockey ring. She has always been there for her big brother to cheer him up.

She has often made the trip to New York City to attend many of his games.

Josie calls him a golden child, as we all know the reason, and Stepan calls her a silver child.

As a child, Josie used to play Pretty Princess, but she never won any games because Stepan was very competitive. Derek used to wear the jewelry that he won.

Josie even made little handmade gifts for her big brother when he was in Wisconsin. The ice hockey player has kept the gifts to date.

NHL player Derek Stepan is the first child of Brad Stepan and Trish Stepan, born on 18th October 1990, in Hastings, Minnesota, United States.

According to the player himself, Brad is a sports enthusiast and has been training Derek ever since she was a child.

Derek cried the very first time when he was put on the ice. He was not serious about hockey till he was 16 years old.

He then left Minnesota in order to pursue his career in Ice Hockey and went to New York.

The Stepan family used to visit Derek in New York, and every time they had to leave for home, his mother used to shed tears.

Although Derek left home early, he always relied on the foundation laid by his father. His father instilled essential ideas in him, allowing him to grow at an early age. Brad has been a great source of encouragement for Derek throughout his career.

He made his NHL debut with the New York Rangers, who also happened to pick his father in 1985. Derek and Brad are still the only father/son duo to ever wear that jersey.

They chat after nearly every game, and Derek contacts him before boarding the bus or leaving for home from the arena.
