Bubba Watson doesn’t have a brother. Instead, Bubba has a sister named Melinda Watson Conner.

Gerry Lester “Bubba” Watson Jr., born on November 5, 1978, is a professional golfer from Bagdad, Florida.

Bubba began to play golf when he was in Milton High School. Later, he played for Faulkner State Community College, where he was a junior college All-American.

Additionally, Watson turned professional in 2002 and played on the National Tour. The golfer played there until 2005.

He became the last golfer to be chosen for the PGA Tour in 2006 after finishing 21st on the Nationwide Tour’s money list in 2005.

Gerry Jr. got his first PGA Tour victory on June 27, 2010, at the Travelers Championship, on the second hole of a sudden-death playoff.

Additionally, on August 10, 2026, Watson announced his retirement from the PGA Tour.

Moreover, Lester has won two major championships, i.e., the Masters Tournament in 2012 and 2014. Bubba is presently playing on LIV Golf, which he joined on July 29, 2026.

Gerry Watson Jr. was born to Molly Marie Watson and Gerry Watson Sr. Bubba was named by his father after the former professional football player Bubba Smith.

The golfer recalled a time when he was 6 years old and wanted to play golf with his father desperately. 

However, Bubba’s dad used to have plans with his colleagues, so he used to refuse to take Watson with him.

“My mom said the only way you can play on Saturdays is if you take your son,” Bubba said.

Moreover, Gerry Sr. wanted his son to play baseball. But he said no one could refuse his mother, so his father later took him to the golf course.

Bubba Watson is married to former Canadian basketball player Angela, aka Angie Watson. Angie was born on June 11, 1977, in Toronto, Canada.

Angela played as a forward and center for the University of Georgia from 1997 until 2000.

Angie was also a member of the team that competed in the 1999 Final Four and the 2000 SEC Championship.

The couple met each other while at the University of Georgia, where Bubba was a golf team member, and Angie was on the women’s basketball team.

Additionally, on their first date, the basketball player told Watson that she won’t be able to bear children.

The golfer replied that there’s nothing like giving a child home, indicating adoption, and continuing dating. After some time of dating, they exchanged their vows in 2004.

After almost a decade, in March 2012, the pair adopted one-month-old baby Caleb. Again, after two years, in late 2014, they adopted a baby girl named Dakota.
