Jack Rafe Flaherty is an American professional baseball pitcher playing for the St. Louis Cardinals in the Major League Baseball (MLB). The 30 years old player made his MLB debut in 2017.
He was chosen by the St. Louis Cardinals in the first round of the MLB draft in 2014 where he was ranked 34th in overall pick.
Flaherty attended Harvard-Westlake School where he pitched and played shortstop and third base as a member of the varsity baseball team for four years.

Baseball America ranked him as the third-best prospect in the Cardinals’ system before the 2016 season. His MLB record stands at 37-29 with a 3.55 ERA having made 649 strikeouts.

His professional career started as a general merchandise expert at Target in June 2019. He worked at Target until August 2026, where his major duties were analyzing sales history, pushing items onto the floor, managing stockroom levels, and providing customer service.
In January 2026, he became a business intern at Second Harvest Inland Northwest, Washington. He was responsible for the design and implementation of a training program for the employees.
He joined Vision To Learn as a human resources intern and assisted in the new hire onboarding before landing at his current job in the wine and spirits industry.

Jack along with his younger brother, Grady, were raised single-handedly by their mother, Eileen Flaherty. She raised the boys by indoctrinating goals like respecting women, loving god, and putting family first.
Eileen Flaherty holds the position of senior director of corporate finance at NBC Universal. She adores her sons and shares a close bond with them despite Jack being an adoptee.
