The American golfer Michael Kim doesn’t have a sister but is a younger brother to Richard Kim. The two brothers have an age gap of five years.

Richard, being the older one, gave golf a shot in the first place. He didn’t make the cut at Torrey Pines High School golf team, and then came Michael.

At Torrey Pines, Michael earned several accolades. By the end of his time at Torrey Pines, Michael was ranked no. 2 golf player in California and seventh in the US.

He then joined UC Berkley, where he turned professional in the middle of his junior year. But since then, he hasn’t been able to replicate the success in the professional stages.

After regaining his PGA Tour Card in the 2026 season, Michael is looking for stability in his career.

In Charles Schwab Challenge, Kim finished seventh while the English golfer, , took the crown.

Michael Kim doesn’t have a sister but has an elder brother, Richard Kim. There was a time when two brothers were eyeing to become professional golfers, but only Michael achieved his dream.

Five years older than his little brother, Richard enrolled at Torrey Pines High School and tried out for the golf team.

But unfortunately, Richard wasn’t selected and had to remain content by focusing on academics.

On the other hand, his little brother achieved massive success at Torrey and later joined the University of California.

The older brother of Michael, Kim, has stayed away from the public spotlight, and not much is known about his whereabouts.

Like his brother, Michael doesn’t have an Instagram but connects with fans through . And he has kept social media usage strictly restricted to golf. 

Michael Kim Parents, Sun And Yun Kim 

Michael Kim’s parents, Sun and Yun Kim, supported him throughout his golfing career. Yes, they wanted a degree, but Sun and Yun, only wanted their son to have a secure life.

His father, Sun Kim, an electronic salesman, introduced him and Richard to golf. The two brothers’ interest in golf only increased as they grew older, and when Richard was 12, the family moved to San Diego. 

Michael started playing golf at 8, and his dad would take him and Richard to the range for lessons.

Michael had to travel from one state to another and one country to another, so he moved to his family home in Del Mar Heights with his parents in 2018.

In 2018, his parents, and brother, Richard, gave him a surprise visit during the John Deere Classic Tournament. Michael won that tournament which remains his only PGA victory. 

The golfer also tries to stay in touch with his roots. In an interview, Michael said he took a break from golf and visited South Korea.

The trip also came after Michael decided to turn pro in the middle of his junior year at UC-Berkley.
