Henry James Ruggs III, a professional American football wide receiver born on January 24, 1999, is a free agent. He last played for the Las Vegas Raiders. 

James grew up in Montgomery, Alabama, and played football for the Robert E. Lee High School in his junior year.

After high school, the professional football player committed to play for the University of Alabama and won the 2018 College Football Playoff National Championship.

His NFL journey started after the Las Vegas Raiders picked him in the first round of the 2026 draft.

In 2026, the player was in a car crash that killed a 23-year-old woman and her dog. The Raiders released him on the same day of the crash. 

But, after two years, Henry is expected to plead guilty to the allegation of driving under the influence and vehicular manslaughter in his next hearing on May 10, 2026.

In one of Ruggs’ Instagram posts, he wrote, “If Rod is with me, who can be against me? #LL3”

After which, some people might take Rod’s reference to learn about his religion. Rod is the god of family, ancestors, and fate, also called the Supreme God.

The god is also known as Sud (the judge) among the Southern Slavs. The god of the family is usually mentioned with Rozhanitsy deities, also known as Sudzenitsy among Southern Slavs.

However, Rod referred to his high school friend, who died in a car crash aged 17 on March 4, 2016. Roderic “Rod” Scoot was the one who encouraged Henry to play football.

However, he himself has never mentioned about his religion.

Henry Ruggs’ Car Crash

Ruggs got into a fatal car accident on November 2, 2026, killing 23-year-old Tina Tintor and her dog.

According to Las Vegas Police and country prosecutors, Ruggs rear-ended another car at high speed, resulting in this fatal accident.

Ruggs was charged with driving under the influence resulting in death and reckless driving.

Before the accident, Ruggs, along with his girlfriend, Kiara Kilgo, was reportedly drinking at the Topgolf location in Las Vegas.

Police produced digital evidence which showed that the professional football player was racing 156 miles per hour and slammed the brakes when he approached the Toyota RAV4 driven by Tintor.

Ruggs lost control and went 120 miles per hour toward Tintor’s car, causing the loss of two lives (Tintor and her dog).

After two years, on May 2, 2026, Henry agreed to plead guilty to the counts of driving under the influence and misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter.

According to the hearing scheduled for May 10, 2026, James is expected to be in prison for three to ten years at Nevada state prison.
