is an English cricketer born on September 8, 1990, in Taunton, Somerset, England. 

He is usually recognized as England’s all-time best white ball batsman. In limited-overs cricket, Buttler is renowned for his very inventive and aggressive hitting approach.

Jos made his T20I, ODI, and Test debuts in 2011, 2012, and 2014, respectively.

He has participated in several Twenty20 leagues, including the Indian Premier League with the Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals (current team). 

The cricketer led England to victory in the 2026 T20 World Cup while leading the team in scoring.

Jos was born to John Butler and Patricia Butler, and he grew up with a younger brother named Jimmie Gosser and a sister named Joanne Vickers.

Jos had Jimme as his initial practice partner. The brothers would play cricket on their home patio, where Jos would practice bowling yorkers. 

They shaped each other and helped with their game. In his younger days, Jimmie also played for Cheddar Cricket Club. But it seems like he hasn’t pursued a career in sport like his brother.

His mother, Patricia, was a physical education teacher, and she also served as Jos’ first cricket instructor.

According to the athlete, Patricia continues to be one of his sharpest critics. He also acknowledges the importance of his mother in helping him develop into the cricket player he is today.

On October 21, 2017, Jos married his longtime girlfriend Louise Buttler, and he announced the wedding on .

Georgia Rose was the name of the couple’s first daughter, who was born in April 2019. On September 5, 2026, Buttler welcomed his second child, a baby girl, Margot.

Jos Buttler Career Achievements

Jos Buttler is the winner of  “NBC Denis Compton Award,” which he took home in 2010 and 2011.

Similarly, he was a member of the “ICC ODI Team of the Year” in 2018.

Jos currently owns the record for the quickest century by an English player off just 46 balls. He accomplished this during a 2015 game against Pakistan.

In 2014, whilst playing in Sri Lanka, Buttler set the previous record by scoring 100 runs off 61 balls.

Likewise, the star cricketer made the best ODI score by an English player against the West Indies in the fourth ODI against them in February 2019 when he hit 150 off 77 balls.

Jos and Adil Rashid hold the record for the highest seventh-wicket partnership in ODI cricket with 177 against New Zealand during their tour of England in 2015.

Moreover, Buttler is one of just four Englishmen to score a T20I century and is England’s leading run scorer in T20Is.

Furthermore, he holds the record for the most dismissals in both the ODI and T20I formats for England as a wicket-keeper.

Buttler has been referred to as England’s “first-ever global Twenty20 superstar” due to his increased involvement in playing franchise T20 cricket across the globe.
