Katie Taylor, a renowned professional boxer, comes from a family with a strong sporting background. Her sister, Sarah, has made a name for herself in the boxing world, competing at the amateur level.

In addition to her talented sister, Katie also has two older brothers who are actively involved in sports.

Katie Taylor (born July 2nd, 1986) is a from Bray, County Wicklow. Also, she is a former soccer player.

Katie is a world champion in two weight categories and the current undisputed lightweight champion. Additionally, the boxer has held the title of WBA champion since 2017.

She has also held the title of IBF champion since 2018 and WBC, WBO, and The Ring magazine titles since 2019.

As of March 2026, she is ranked as the world’s best active female lightweight by BoxRec and the best active female boxer, pound-for-pound, by BoxRec and The Ring.

Katie Taylor’s Sister and Siblings

Katie Taylor was raised by an Irish mother, Bridget, and an English father, Pete Taylor, with three siblings: one older sister, Sarah Taylor, and two older brothers, Lee and Peter Taylor.

Three of her siblings attended the same school as Katie, i.e., St. Killian’s Community School in Bray.

Sarah was involved in boxing at an amateur level. However, she is not active in the boxing scene currently and is married and supports her sister privately.

Lee is the older brother of Katie, who is into Muay Thai.

On the other hand, Peter Taylor is a lecturer at Ireland’s oldest university who teaches mathematics.

He is not only a lecturer but also has a successful background in boxing.

The lecturer was the British and Irish university champion and also the silver medalist in the national U-21.

Katie’s First-Ever Defeat

Katie Taylor faced her first-ever loss throughout her professional career as Chantelle Cameron defeated her in Dublin on May 21, 2026.

Taylor entered the 3Arena unbeaten but left with a small dent in her professional record.

This was her first pro-fight in her native land, Ireland, but she lost to Chantelle.

The match was intense, as Cameron fought on the front foot and applied heavy pressure.

Katie seemed to lose control in the middle rounds after the hard shot landed by Chantelle with greater frequency.

All in all, the fight was intense for both boxers and spectators.

Cameron won in the tenth round via majority decision.
