Rece Davis is an American sports commentator and television host for ESPN and ABC. 

Currently, Davis is an anchor on the sports news television program SportsCenter on ESPN. Similarly, he is the studio host of several programs on ESPN, including the football roadshow College GameDay

Apart from being a noted sports journalist, Rece Davis is also a great husband. He has been married to Leigh Davis for more than 25 years, but their love for each other seems to grow more every day.

Leigh was the one who encouraged Rece to apply for ESPN even though he did not think he was qualified for the job. However, Leigh believed in him and motivated him to pursue his goals in life.

Leigh Davis: Early Life, Family, and Education

Leigh Langley Davis was born and raised in Columbus, Georgia. However, we could not find any information on her family background. 

She went to Columbus High School and graduated in 1979. After that, she joined Auburn University in Alabama.

Davis was a sales representative at . She started working at their Columbus outlet right after graduating from college. 

It was her dream job at the time, and she loved working at the television station. However, she quit the job after she got married.

Rece Davis was working as a news anchor at WRBL-TV when he met Leigh Langley for the very first time. 

Davis was immediately attracted to Leigh, so he started looking for a way to approach her casually. Therefore, he pretended not to know how to work the fax machine so she would help him.

The pair grew closer after Davis had to submit a press credential to cover a game against Auburn, the same university that Leigh attended. They started dating each other, and Rece proposed to her in August 1993. 

The couple shared their wedding vows four months later, on December 13. They have been married for over two decades now. 

Kids 

Leigh and Rece have two children together. Christopher, their older son, was born in 1999, and Elizabeth, their younger daughter, was born in 2000. 

The couple raised the kids in Avon, Hartford County. Likewise, they went to Avon Old Farms School.

Chris played baseball and football in high school. He was the captain of his baseball team. In addition, Chris was the student body president and member of the student council.

He was an outstanding student in school, so he received the Yale Book Award in junior year. Moreover, he attended Princeton University in New Jersey. 

In 2026, he joined Duke University’s baseball team where he plans to complete his master’s degree in business from. 

Unlike her brother, Elizabeth is interested in theater and acting. She joined New York University and currently lives in New York City. 

The siblings share a great bond. They are supportive of each other and praise each other’s accomplishments all the time.  

Chris is a fan of his mother’s alma mater, the Auburn Tigers. On the other hand, Rece persuaded Elizabeth to root for his university’s football team, the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Son’s Injury

Chris was a Division I baseball player at Princeton University. During a game in March 2017, he suffered a severe injury after colliding with another teammate.

He did not leave the game immediately and continued to play even though he was hurt. However, his condition worsened a few hours later. His family rushed him to the hospital, and they found out he had ruptured his spleen.

Chris was treated at Washington Hospital Medical Center, and he went through two surgeries. 

It was an eye-opening experience for Rece Davis. Davis was able to see sports-related injuries from a new perspective, mainly since it affected the athlete’s family members just as much.

After taking months off for recovery, Chris was finally able to go back to college. But it was a difficult time for him, so Leigh moved closer to his college so she could help him during the healing process.

Leigh bought an apartment near Princeton University. She carried his books and other college materials for him while moving from one class to the other.
