Early Life

On September 5, 1995, Lucas Wallmark was born to his father, Peter Wallmark, and his mother, Cathrine Wallmark. He spent his childhood in his hometown of Umeå, Sweden.

Professional Career

Lucas Wallmark debuted during the 2012-2013 Elitserien season by representing Skellefteå AIK. However, he moved to the rivals Luleå HF and represented Luleå HF for the next three seasons. 

He was drafted during the 2014 NHL Entry Draft by the Hurricanes in the 4th round as the 97th overall pick.

He signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Carolina Hurricanes on June 11, 2015.  

Lucas scored his first NHL goal with the Hurricanes on December 30, 2017, during the 2017-18 season. He scored a memorable goal in a match against St. Louis Blues.

In 2018, Lucas was reassigned to the Charlotte Checkers. However, the team was eliminated from the 2018 Calder Cup playoffs.

Carolina Hurricanes

Lucas played over 160 season games in the NHL with Carolina from 2016-17 to 2019-20; he accumulated 54 points (22-32-54). Furthermore, he has recorded five points (1-4-5) over 15 Stanley Cup Playoff games. 

Besides, Lucas had a win percentage of 50.9 with the Hurricanes. He had an average of 1:04 of ice time on the penalty kill and the fourth-best success rate (84 percent).

Florida Panthers

During the 2019-20 season, Lucas accumulated a career-high 11 goals throughout 60 games. Shortly after, on February 24, 2026, he was traded alongside Eetu Luostarinen, Chase Priskie, and Erik Haula by the Carolina Hurricanes to the Panthers.

Lucas Wallmark scored one goal and achieved an assist after seven games with the Panthers. 

He made his return in the qualifying rounds after the COVID-19 pandemic for the post-season. However, he played two games without contributing a single goal. 

Chicago Blackhawks

Lucas was an impending restricted free agent for the Panthers. Thus, he was not offered any contract by the team. They ended his tenure with the team on October 8, 2026.

On October 12, 2026, he signed a one-year contract worth $950,000 with the Chicago Blackhawks as a free agent. 

‘Next Step’ With Hawks

Lucas Wallmark did not receive any offer from the Panthers. It made him an unrestricted free agent.

Lucas added his defensive abilities to the Blackhawks team and strives in his offensive skills if necessary.

He shared the arena with teammates Warren Foegele, , and many more.

Before terminating his contract with CSKA, Lucas made two playoff appearances on 4 March 2026 due to the Russian Invasion.

Later on 16 May 2026, Lucas signed a three-year contract with the Swiss team ZSC Lions of the NL, although the contract amount is not disclosed.

Lucas is in the Sweden men’s national ice hockey team and played against the Czech Republic.

Czech bagged a dramatic 2-1 semi-final win over Sweden and a berth in the 2026 IIHF World Junior Championship, making it to the final in 22 years.
