The Milwaukee Bucks small forward MarJon Beauchamp is the grandson of the first African American mayor of Yakima, Henry Beauchamp, and the son of John and Denise Beauchamp.

MarJon played colligate basketball for the Yakima Valley Yaks before being drafted by the Bucks in the 2026 NBA Draft.

For the 2026 season, he played with the NBA G League Ignite, a developmental basketball team in the NBA G League.

As of 2026, he has also been assigned to play for the Wisconsin Herd, the G-League affiliate of the Milwaukee Bucks.

Early Life & Family

The rookie for the Milwaukee Bucks of the NBA, MarJon Beauchamp, was born on October 12, 2000, in Yakima, Washington, United States.

He is the son of Denise and John Beauchamp, a radio personality and former college basketball player. Jon played colligate basketball for Eastern Washington and Highline College.

He comes from a mixed heritage of Native Americans from the La Jolla Band of Luiseño Indians and Mission Indians.

As mentioned before, his grandfather Henry Beauchamp was the first African American mayor of Yakima.

Education

MarJon Beauchamp started his high school basketball career at Nathan Hale High School in Seattle, where he played as a reserve on a team that featured top recruits, Michael Porter Jr. and Jontay Porter.

He then transferred to Garfield High School as a sophomore seeking stronger competition.

Nevertheless, alluding to a lack of motivation in class, MarJon transferred again for his junior season, this time to Rainier Beach High School within the school boundaries.

His transfer to Rainier proved to be a smart move for his basketball career as he helped lead the team to both league and district titles, showcasing his impressive skills on the court.

As a result of his outstanding performance, he was honored with the title of Most Valuable Player of the Seattle 3A Metro League.

After concluding his high school basketball career, he returned to Yakima to graduate from Eisenhower High School.

In March 2026, Beauchamp decided to return to his hometown of Yakima, Washington, and join the basketball team at Yakima Valley College.

A Brief on His Grandfather, Henry Beauchamp

Henry Beauchamp was born to a farming family on November 9, 1933, in Clinton, Louisiana. He was the youngest of Cornellia Beauchamp and Henry Clay Sr.’s seven children.

His family moved to Yakima, Washington, shortly after Henry’s 13th birthday.

In 1955, Henry married his longtime girlfriend, Wilma Jean Mitchell, and they were blessed with children; John Mark Beauchamp and Korie L. Beauchamp.

Henry was elected to the Yakima City Council in 1978 for the first time, where he devoted 24 years of his life to serving the community.

He demonstrated strong direction and a deep commitment to improving the lives of Yakima residents during this time.

For Henry’s dedication to public service and recognition of his contributions, he was elected mayor of Yakima for two years, from 1986 to 1988.

As mayor, he worked tirelessly to promote the city’s economic growth and social progress.

Unfortunately, on April 25, 2013, he breathed his last breath at age 80 at Sullivan Center.

Career

Beauchamp’s basketball career reached a new milestone on September 23, 2026, as he signed with the NBA G League Ignite, a team in the NBA’s developmental league.

After a season with NBA G League Ignite, Beauchamp was drafted 24th overall by the Milwaukee Bucks in the 2026 NBA Draft.

Following the draft, he joined the Bucks’ 2026 NBA Summer League roster. He made an immediate impact in his debut game, scoring 16 points in a 94-90 win over the Nets.

On July 7, 2026, Beauchamp signed a rookie-scale contract with the Bucks, officially joining the team housing players such as , , and .

On November 14, 2026, MarJon set a new career-high with 20 points during a game against the Hawks, showcasing his growth and potential as a professional basketball player.
