The American MMA fighter, Shalie Lipp, had fought five games into her career and was about to face her sixth opponent on May 20. But a tragic accident took place, and she lost her life.

On May 7, 2026, Lipp was involved in a car accident on the I-94 bridge connecting Fargo and Moorhead. A 2015 Chevrolet Malibu collided with a 2017 Jeep Cherokee, and Lipp was a passenger in the former.

The 21-year-old was the only one not to put on a seat belt which was a critical reason for her untimely death. All the other passengers in the accident came out unscathed.

The 21-year-old Shalie Lipp hadn’t had many fights under her belt, nor did she have any endorsements for herself. 

We might have heard mind-boggling numbers of many MMA fighters’ net worths, with the likes of reaching $180 million.

But this is only for those who have made it big time, drawing millions of crowds to their fights.

Lipp was new to the scene, with her first fight being at the end of 2026. She had recently traveled to Thailand for her bout and won against Fatemeh Tanha.

Many former UFC fighters have said one can be considered lucky if they bring even 10% of their earning home. Most of the salary is taxed, and about 5-20% will go towards paying the coaches and the gym.

Some UFC and MMA fighters even have multiple coaches, but in Shalie’s case, Joe Trottier was her only coach. 

If we estimate Shalie’s salary as per the lowest starting earned in the UFC, which is $10,000, then she made about $30,000-$40,000, considering her first fight would not give her $10,000. 

Lipp fought two games under Ignite Fights and one each under MHM Mile High MMAyhem, OFC 129, and Captain Fights Club. 

In MMA, sponsorships also help to bump up the person’s earnings to $4000-$21,000. A person with 4-5 bouts is said to earn $4,500 per appearance.

Lipp didn’t have a sponsorship deal but was slowly inching towards making a big name for herself in the MMA scene. 

Before her demise, Shalie was scheduled to take on Wendy Anudson in a flyweight title fight in the main event at Ignite No Mercy 11.
