The Asian-American player, Jeremy Lin, was called “Chink in the armor” on Spero Dedes by Dede.

Although previous ESPN employees were dismissed for saying such phrases, Dede wasn’t suspended and apologized.

Spero, after this, was again involved in another controversy of 20016, where he was caught drunk driving.

The sports commentator was arrested by Southampton City Police and was released on a $500 bond.

The incident did not lead to any severe consequences, so the sportscaster was free without much hassle.

Throughout his career since 2001, the sportscaster has worked with several commentators.

He was paired with Adam Archuleta for NFL games between 2017 and 2026.

During the Buffalo Bill victory over the Indianapolis Colts on December 10, 2017, Dedes and Archuleta were on the call for the Snow Bowl.
