The two times WNBA champion Mercedes Russell is the only biological child of her parents, Tammy Hill and Lorenzo Russell.

Mercedes Brianna Russell, known as Mercedes Russell, is an American professional basketball player born in Springfield, Oregon.

The player currently plays for the Seattle Storm as a center in the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA).

She became the WNBA Championship in her first professional season in 2018, along with , , and Natasha Howard.

Before playing professionally, she played collegiate basketball at the University of Tennessee and high school basketball at Springfield High School.

The player must have celebrated her mother’s 50th birthday, as suggested by the decorations in the background of the picture.

Her mother, Tammy Hill, studied at Clackamas Community College and currently resides in Springfield, Oregon.

Moreover, Tammy launched a GoFundMe to raise money for airfare and hotel costs for her to join her daughter in the special event for the WNBA draft in New York in 2018.

Unfortunately, her father’s whereabouts are currently unknown.

Mercedes Return With Storm In 2026

In the first game against the Dallas Wings, Mercedes played 12 minutes and committed more fouls (3) and turnovers (3) than points (2) and rebounds (2).

However, it was hard for the player, who missed training camps and the previous eight games.

The training and games were missed due to her injury, which was disclosed by the team on April 17.

Furthermore, Russell denies giving details about her injury, saying she thinks injuries are about being patient and taking the time to know the body.

The WNBA player only participated in two practice games before returning to the court.

At first, Russell was put on a 12- to 15-minute restriction during the practice game, but Noelle Quinn hoped to extend her time on the court.

“As we get her conditioning up and her game reps up, she’s going to help tremendously, especially rebounding. That’s 8 to 12 points offensively.” Said Noelle Quinn.

Russell mentioned that making a place in this was important for her. Additionally, she also expresses her gratitude to Seattle and claims it is an amazing organization from top to bottom.
