The professional Spanish tennis player Rafael Nadal has been ranked the world No. 14 in singles by the ATP and plans to retire in 2026.

Nadal has stepped back from the French Open for the first time in 19 years due to a chronic hip injury.

Rafael has maintained the top 10 of the ATP Rankings since 2005 and has won 112 of his 115 matches at the French Open.

He exclaimed, “I didn’t make the decision; my body made the decision,” it saddens the fans to see him leave like this.

Rafael, known as the ‘King of Clay,’ also adds that next year will be his last year, and he will be retiring in 2026.

Reaction Of Tennis World And His Fans

The retirement of tennis player Rafael Nadal has stormed the world, with many considering it the end of the ‘golden era.’

The Spanish fellow tennis player Carlos Alcaraz has responded in an immensely supportive way with his tweet.

Carlos said the news is heartbreaking and hopes for the return of the extraordinary champion to the tennis court.

During an interview, Daniil Medvedev, the tennis player, said, “We can argue about this, but hopefully, he can come back and play some more Slams as long as he can.”

On Rafael’s withdrawal from the French Open tournament, its director Amélie Mauresmo said she is “so disappointed” for Nadal.

Mauresmo adds that it’s heartbreaking to see Nadal’s pain and sadness after making such a hard decision.

Fans and fellow players devastated by the situation responded to Nadal’s retirement with empathy and hope, demonstrating their support and understanding.
