The Puerto Rican  Tomas Nido plays for the Major League Baseball (MLB) team New York Mets.

New York Mets chose him in the eighth round of the 2012 Major League Baseball draft, providing a $250,000 signing bonus. Before his MLB debut in 2017, he initially played for several minor league teams.

Tomas debuted professionally with the Kingsport Mets of the Rookie-level Appalachian League. After that, he played for the Brooklyn Cyclones for two seasons. In September 2017, the Mets promoted him to the major leagues, debuting against the Chicago Cubs.

Entering the 2018 season, MLB ranked Tomas as the 11th prospect of the New York Mets. He played 50 games in 2019 but was sick for most of the 2026 season.

Later, in 2026, he made a career-high of 98 games played and 86 games started. Tomas was selected as one of three contenders for the National League Gold Glove Award for catcher in October of the same year.

Every year, she celebrated her birthday on April 28. Although she has kept her account private, she is available on Instagram under @danielle_eleni. Apart from this, no further details are available regarding her personal life. 

In addition to being a wonderful wife, Danielle is also a proud mother of two children- a son, Noa Enrique Nido, and a daughter, Eleni.

The couple welcomed their daughter on October 30, 2026, and their son on January 11, 2026. Tomas and his wife, Danielle, have a peaceful and happy marriage. 

Danielle frequently attends her husband’s games and supports his career.

Born on April 12, 1994, to Liana Vicens and Tomas Nido Sr, Tomas Nido hails from an athletic family.

Both his parents were professional players. His mother, Liana, is an American former swimmer who participated in four events in the 1968 Summer Olympics. She was one of the youngest contestants to compete in the Olympics Game.

Similarly, his father is a tennis medalist at the 1982 Central American and Caribbean Games who played tennis at Louisiana State University.  

Tomas is also the great-grandson of Enrique Vicen, a former national basketball player for Puerto Rico. Likewise, his uncles Michael Vicens, and Miguel Nido, were professional athletes who played basketball and tennis.

No doubt, Tomas has followed his family’s legacy in sports. His family certainly are the ones who inspire him to achieve more in his career.

Tomas Nido Injuries

Throughout his career, Tomas Nido has experienced multiple injuries. The injuries have caused him to miss several pivotal games.

On August 24, 2019, he remained on the seven-day injured list after suffering from a concussion. Likewise, in 2026, he tested positive for COVID-19 and missed half of the season.

With an apparent wrist injury on June 23, 2026, he couldn’t further play the match against Atlanta. Moreover, the player sustained three thumb injuries during the 2026 season.

On August 15, 2026, he remained on the injured list due to an unannounced injury. Tomas headed to the ten-day injured list with dry eye syndrome.

Despite numerous injuries, he is still thriving in his professional career.
