Grigor has always been a hardworking player and achieved the Bulgarian Sportsperson of the Year award in 2014 and 2017 with the support of his parents. 

Grigor Dimitrov is a Bulgarian professional tennis player, ranked as world no.3 in singles by the ATP.

He was trained in Tennis from the early age of 3 by his tennis coach father, Dimitar Dimitrov, who helped him sharpen his tennis skills.

As part of her athletic background, his mother, Maria, gave her full support and contributed her time by taking Grigor to his practices for his development.

After his dad, only Daniel Vallverdu, a former coach of was Grigor’s only reoccurring source of motivation.

In 2026, Grigor is again getting coached by Vallverdu after parting and reuniting for many years.

As a capable tennis player, Grigor also represented Bulgaria at his maiden Olympics in 2012 London.

Grigor was born on 16 May 1991 to his Bulgarian parents, Maria And Dimitar Dimitrov, in Haskovo, Bulgaria.

He grew up in an athletic background due to his father, Dimitar, a tennis coach, and his mother, Maria, a volleyball player.

The Tennis player’s parents were always supportive as they introduced Grigor to tennis at three.

Dimitar initiated his son’s tennis career and coached his tennis skills at Tennis Club Haskovo, making him more capable than his age group children.

His father made sure that Dimitar lived a maintained lifestyle to live a balanced life.

Grigor’s mother also made similar efforts for his son and took him to all his practices to develop his game.

Their parent’s efforts have paid off, as Grigor is one of the men’s tour’s most agile and firm players.

He is an only child of his parents and has always been under his parents’ wings, which fact-checks his safe childhood growth.

Grigor Girlfriend

Grigor is successful in his career and holds more prize money than any other Bulgarian tennis player, with a $1 million reach.

He became the 25th male tennis player to win $20 million on 18 October 2026.

His fame and hard work for success also made his love life eventful, as he could date so many successful and eye-pleasing females.

His first-ever official girlfriend was Maria Sharapova, whom he started dating in 2012 but was officially announced after his 2013 Madrid Open victory against a world No. 1, beating Novak Djokovic.

They separated in 2015, and he secretly started dating American singer Nicole Scherzinger, the lead vocalist of The Pussycat Dolls.

After almost four years of dating, Nicole and Grigor decided to part ways in 2019.

Later, Grigor started dating Lolita Osmanova, the daughter of Russian billionaire Eldar Osmanova and was spotted during the 2026 Vienna Open for the first time. 

Lolita attends all of Grigor’s matches and cheers him during his tennis matches.

Accusation On Grigor

parents accused Grigor of spreading coronavirus in the exhibition tennis tournament in the Balkans.

Novak’s father, Srdjan, told RTL Croatia TV that this happened because Grigor came sick from somewhere else, and his arrival was the reason for the spread.

Therefore according to , Grigor tested positive with the three other players at the event.

Among the Adria Tour participants, Grigor was the first to be tested positive for Covid, followed by Borna Coric and Viktor Troicki.

Following this incident, Noval Djokovic and his family got a lot of criticism from the fans for blaming it all on Grigor.
